Jojo Norris - Illustrator

Describe your works
I like to create children’s book/imagery usually textures – composition and atmosphere is very important in my work and creating a comprehensive narrative through few words.  I love screen printing and the handmade organic quality it creates.  I also love the obligatory ugly marine mammal illustration.

Describe yourself in three words:
Hardworking, enthusiastic and optimistic

Life Story
I moved to Edinburgh from Liverpool about four years ago with the plan to do fine art at Edinburgh college of art but the calling of narrative and reading (far too many) children’s books led me to choose illustration and focus on a career in design. I still love a great surrealist painting but it is textures, patterns and dramatic compositions teamed with fun character designs that get my creative juices flowing

So, after leaving ECA with a First in illustration I decided that four years in one city was plenty and to try a new and exciting environment was going to challenge my security.  So now here I am hoping to get involved in the Nottingham Art Scene and make it as a freelancer!  If you ever need some ugly marine mammals’ illustrations doing, I am your illustrator!
